What Is the VGB Pool & Spa Safety Act?
The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act (VGB), passed in December 2007, mandates that all public pool or spa drain covers in the U.S. meet the ASME/ANSI A112.19.8 entrapment protection standards or any successor standards. These standards ensure that pool or spa main drains do not pose a suction entrapment hazard.
VGB-Compliant Products
NorCal Pool Service’s certified VGB drain covers and sump grates meet the ANSI/APSP/ICC-16 2017 standards. Designed for safety, these products are unblockable and suitable for existing pool outlets, but not for pools with single main drains unless specified.
