It’s not easy owning a pool, trust us, we know. It’s always open to the air, has debris everywhere, and is in constant need of maintenance as well. But having a pool is still a great luxury that everybody in the household can enjoy!

So to make it easier for you, we here at NorCal Pool Service will tell you all about the most common swimming pool problems, so that you can keep an eye out for them and call us to take care of it as soon as possible!

So without further ado, here they are:

Green water.

The most common swimming pool problem there is, pool water turning green is the one thing every pool owner needs to be aware of. Why? Because it can happen quickly and to any pool! Just by not putting in enough chemicals, then you would already run the risk of turning your pool water green. So make sure to consult your local pool maintenance to know just how much chlorine you will need to pour in first.

Water level too low.

You might’ve noticed that your pool water levels haven’t been all that high, and yes that is a very serious problem. If the pool waters are too low, you will run the risk of damaging your pool pump as it will be pumping more air than water. But it’s pretty easy to solve, just add in some water from a hose and you should be fine. Though, if it happens way too often, then you should definitely try and call us to have a look at it.

Black spots in the pool.

If you’ve ever encountered weird and out of place black spots in your pool, then you better get out of it fast. Those black spots are most likely black algae and it can be pretty annoying to the skin. Luckily for you, it’s pretty easy to take care of. Just make sure to add in some black-algae-specific algaecide and scrub diligently to take care of it.

And those are the most common pool problems that all pool owners will most likely face at least once in their lifetime. Now, if you’re experiencing these problems but have no time to fix them yourselves, then make sure to call us here at NorCal Pool Service for the best pool service in the Northern Californian region!
